Once upon a time I had a blog about learning how to write. This is because, as you might guess, I wanted very badly to be a writer. I also was fascinated by anyone who gave wisdom that went against the grain.
So when I was cleaning up some old articles from The Iceberg Project's site, I was delighted to find this gem about Danielle LaPorte. While I no longer agree with #2, it's a piece that reminds me of the journey, so you know, gotta' honor that.
I think it's safe to say that I have a girl crush on Danielle LaPorte.
Like maybe if I saw her, I would ask her if I could adopt her as my Aunt.
I know for sure that I'm not the only one envisioning that scenario because Danielle LaPorte has been influential in so many women's lives around the globe that it's hard not to fall for her and everything she offers to the world.
I mean, listen to the stuff she says: "Attend first to the divine and the work at hand becomes art."
OR! "It's not the imbalances of life that will get you down--it's doing meaningless things that aren't taking you where you want to go. The more you pursue what you're passionate about at any given time, the less friction and more fluidity you'll have in your life. And that's the definition of harmony."
Aren't you already in love?
I've been following Danielle LaPorte ever since I stumbled onto her online version of The Spark Kit, and I bought it four lines into the sales pitch on her website.
My soul needed some wisdom, and it got it.
So, when the book was released, I bought it launch day and literally jumped up & down when the book arrived at my house. Then I posted a picture of me with it on Facebook for all of my friends to admire.
Here is what you need to know about the Firestarter Sessions before you run to the bookstore to buy it:
1. You'll be woken up to what really lights you up in life and you'll be compelled to go out & chase it.
2. You'll learn how to be comfortable with your fear and how to defeat it.
3. You'll wonder why you ever tried to "manage" time.
4. You'll start to enjoy what you value most in life. You'll be gratified, filled up, immensely pleased.
5. You'll learn about being compassionate, about embracing your artistry, and the benefits of pouring your soul into your work while making all the moola you'll ever need
Ever since I've started implementing her advice in my everyday life, I've felt the need to shirk whatever bullshit society hands me if it isn't going to benefit what I really value. I am pursuing what I want to do even if it scares the hell out of me and I have no idea how I am going to make money doing it. I've learned how to have faith in my art and my intuition (or my ~ing). And I was linked to other books/experts that are helping me on my road to mastery.
Are your keys in your hand yet? Is your Amazon cart holding two copies yet (One for you & one to share with a friend)?
Get on it.
You'll be grateful that you did.
